Caracalla (197-217 AD). AR 30 (17.16 g), Apollonia Mordiaion, Pisidia, c. 197-211 AD. Obv. AYT K M AY ANTΩNЄI, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind. Rev. ΛYK ΘPA, Serapis seated on throne left, holding spear; to left, Isis standing right, holding sistrum right and situla in left; to right, Harpokrates standing right, head left, holding cornucopiae left and raising right hand to mouth; in exergue, AΠOΛΛΩN/IATΩN. SNG Aulock 4996 (this coin); Aulock, Pisidien II, p. 59, 113 and pl. 4 (this coin).
Very rare. About extremely fine.

On the reverse of this coin, Apollonia claimes a Lycian and Thracian heritage. Epigraphic evidence from the vicinity of the town (esp.
names on graveyards) confirms the settlement of Lycians and Thracians, although
the date of the settlement is unknown. It may have occured as early as during the reign of the first Diadoch kings.
