Syracuse, Sicily. Hiketas (287-278 BC). AV 60 Litrai - Dekadrachm (17 mm, 4.26 g), c. 279/8 BC. Obv. Head of Persephone left, wearing wreath of grain ears, earring and pearl necklace; ΣYPAKOΣIΩN before, cornucopia behind. Rev. Nike, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga right; Φ before horses, thunderbolt above, K below, EΠI IKETA in exergue. SNG Cop. 798 (same obverse die); SNG ANS 777 (same obverse die);
A splendid example of superb style and without the usual obverse die rust. Extremely fine and virtually as struck.
