Romanos IV (1068-1071). AV Histamenon Nomisma (24-29 mm, 4.38 g), Constantinople (Istanbul). Obv. + PωMAN’ ЄVΔOKIA, Christ standing facing, on footstool, wearing nimbus crown, pallium and colobium, and crowning Romanos to left and Eudcoia to right, both standing facing, wearing saccos and loros, and holding globus cruciger; on either side of Christ’s head, IC XC. Rev. KωN MX ANΔ, Michael in centre, Constantius to left and Andronicus to right, all standing facing; Michael wears crown, loros and saccos, and holds labarum in right hand, akakia in left; his brothers both hold globus cruciger and akakia, below a dotted exergual band, double border.
