eAuction #13, Lot 44. Estimate: CHF 100.00
Temenothyrai, Phrygia. AE21 (5.46 g), time of Philip I (244-249 AD). Obv. Helmeted bust of Athena wearing right, spear behind. Rev. NEIKOMAXPOC APX THMENOΘYPEICI, lion walking right. SNG Aulock 4003.
Very rare. Very fine.
The fact that the magistrate name is in nominative while the ethnic is in dative shows that the coin belongs to a dedicatory issue paid for by the Archon Neikomarchos.
