Selinos, Sicily. AR Tetradrachm (26-31 mm, 17.25 g), c. 450.
Obv. ΣEΛINONTIOΣ (retrograde), quadriga moving slowly to left, driven by Artemis, who holds the reins, Apollo stands beside her, drawing a bow.
Rev. ΣEΛINOΣ, river-god Selinos, naked, standing facing left, holding a branch upwards in his left hand, and pouring a philae over an altar with his right; to left a cockerel in front of altar; to right, a selinon leaf above a bull standing facing left on a base.
SNG Lloyd 1224 (same dies); McClean 2576, pl. 88, 3 (same dies).

Rare. Beautiful late archaic style. Worn obverse die, otherwise gently toned and good very fine.
