Follis (16.47 [!] g), Trier, c. 296/297. Obv. IMP DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG, Laureate head right. Rev. GENIO POPVLI ROMANI, Genius standing l., modius on
head, naked but for chlamys over left shoulder, right holding patera, left
cornucopiae; B - Γ across fields, TR in exergue. RIC VI Treviri 170a.
Extremely heavy specimen. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, extremely fine and fully silvered.
The weight of the A-C/Γ and TR series of 296/297 usually ranges between 8.5 and 10.5 grams. This specimen is struck on an extremely thick and heavy flan.
