eAuction #28, Lot 153. Estimate: CHF 5.00
Eisenberg, Jerome M. A Guide to Roman Imperial Coins. New York 1957. 8vo, card covers; 32 pages. Fine.
A note from BCD: A handy guide for the beginner in Roman coin collecting authored by the then young Jerome M. Eisenberg, current owner of Royal Athena Galleries and now dealing for many decades in antiquities. Mr. Eisenberg, a respected member of the antiquities dealer community, has done much to support the rights of collectors of Ancient Art and is always willing to publicly speak for them and voice their grievances. His earliest publication in this writer’s library is “Art of the Ancient World, Volume 1” dated December 1965. However, it is also listed as being his Catalog No. 44 which means that his involvement with antiquities is almost as early, if not earlier, than this booklet.
