Aelius as Caesar (136-138 AD). AE As (26 mm, 13.43 g), Roma (Rome), 137 AD. Obv. L AELIVS CAESAR, bare head right. Rev. TR POT COS II / PANNO-NIA / S-C, Pannonia standing right, head left, holding vexillum in right hand and pulling swath of drapery across legs with left hand. RIC II, 1071.
Thick glossy green patina with minor encrustations. Very fine.
This type commemorates Aelius' appointment as governor of Pannonia.
