AY KAY Λ CEΠ CEBHPOC, laureate head to right; to left, countermark: helmeted head of Roma to right; to right, countermark: ΘΕΟΥ. Rev. EΠI KΛ APICTEOY CTPATONEIKEΩN, Zeus Panamaros on horseback to right, holding scepter in left hand; before, burning altar. SNG von Aulock 2664. BMC -. For countermarks, Howgego 188 and 536.
Rare. Pleasant black patina and nearly very fine.

While dynastical Stratonikeia issues with Septimius Severus and Julia Domna resp. Caracalla and Geta are quite common, the single portrait issues for Severus are much rarer.
