Iulius Caesar (+ 44 BC). AR Denarius (18 mm, 3.85 g), uncertain Asia Minor mint, 48-47 BC. Obv. Diademed head of Venus right. Rev. CAESAR, Aeneas advancing left, carrying palladium in right hand and Anchises on left shoulder. Crawford 458/1 (attributed to an African mint).
Misstruck, otherwise, very fine.
Reattributed to an Asia Minor mint by Woytek, Arma et Nummi, p. 218 ff.
