Demetrios I Poliorketes (306-283 BC). AR Tetradrachm (25 mm, 16.91 g), Tarsos, c. 298-295 BC.
Obv. Nike, blowing a trumpet and holding a stylis, alighting to left on a left-facing galley prow.
Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΔHMHTΡIOΥ Poseidon, nude but for wreath of reeds and a chlamys wrapped around his left arm, striding left, hurling trident from his upraised right Hand; to left and right, two monograms.
Cf. Newell 33 (stater with same control marks); Seleucus I Hoard 1037–41 var. (control marks reversed).

Struck slightly off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From the D.A.K. Collection, ex CNG 100, 7 October 2015, 1331 and previously acquired from Maison Platt in September 1980.
