Commodus (177-192 AD). AE35 (18.02 g), Thyateira, Lydia. Moschianos Philippou, c. 184-188. Obv. [ΑV ΚΑΙ Μ ΑVΡΗ ΚΟΜΟΔΟС], Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust to right, seen from behind; to right, countermark: head (of Caracalla?) to right. Rev. ƐΠΙ ΜΟСΧΙΑΝΟV ΘΥΑΤEIPHNΩN, nude Poseidon standing with foot on prow to right., holding Trident in right hand and dolphin in left. RPC online temp. 2867 corr. (incomplete legends and lacking the dolphin).
Extremely rare, the better of only two known, now allowing a complete description of the reverse. Fine.
