eAuction #50, Lot 211. Estimate: CHF 250.00
Caracalla (198-217 AD). AR Denarius (19 mm, 3.60 g), Roma (Rome), 210. Obv. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, laureate head to right. Rev. P M TR P XVIII COS III P P, Salus seated left on throne, feeding serpent rising to left. Cohen -. RIC -, cf. 242 (Septimius Severus) for the reverse type.
A very rare mule. Good very fine.
This coin is an interesting hybrid issue: it combines an obverse die of Caracalla with a reverse die of Septimius Severus dated to 210.
