Nero (54-68 AD). Aureus (18-19 mm, 7.32 g), Rome, 64-66 AD. Obv. NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, Laureate head to right. Rev. AVGVSTVS AVGVSTA, Nero, radiate and togate, standing left, holding patera in right hand and scepter in left; to right, his wife, Poppaea Sabina, veiled and draped, standing left, holding patera in right hand and cornucopia in left. RIC 44 and 56 (R2); BMC 52.
Rare. An attractive example of this desirable issue with much luster remaining. Lovely reddish tone and almost extremely fine.
