eAuction #79, Los 32. Schätzpreis: CHF 400.00
Corinthia, Corinth. AR Stater (20 mm, 8.39 g), c. 405-345 BC. Obv. Pegasos standing left; koppa below. Rev. Head of Athena to right,
wearing Corinthian helmet with neck guard; palmette to left, dolphin to
right. Ravel 795var; Calciati, Pegasi 296var = 297/1var (palmette inverted); BCD Korinth –.
Very rare. Very fine.
This is a very interesting transitional issue: for a specimen from the same reverse die but with a flying Pegasos on the obverse see G. Hirsch Nachfolger 319 (2016), lot 155.
