Gaul, Helvetii. AR Quinarius (12-14 mm, 1.50 g), mid 1st century BC. Obv. [NINNO], Male head to right. Rev. MAVC (retrograde), Boar rushing to right. DT-; Castelin SLM -; LT -; HMZ 1-32bvar (head also to right).
Very rare variant with boar to right. Very fine.
These
rare quinarii can be ascribed to the Helvetii and are best known from
the Balsthal hoard, found between Basel and Solothurn in 1839/40.
