Q. Fufius Calenus and Mucius Cordus. AR Serrate Denarius (20 mm, 3.88 g), Roma (Rome), c. 68 BC. Obv. Jugate heads of Honos and Virtus right; KALENI below, HO behind, VIRT before. Rev. Roma and Italia hand in hand, cornucopia between them, caduceus behind Italia, RO on right, ITAL on left, CORDI in exergue. Crawford 403/1.
Toned. Good very fine.
The reverse refers to the consulship of Calenus in 70 BC, when the census among the new italic cives started, finally settling the quarrels from the Social War of 91-88 BC.
