eAuction #18, Lot 56. Estimate: CHF 350.00

Very rare. Fine.
Aratos of Soloi was a famous astronomer who lived from c. 310-245 BC. His works were translated and commented by Cicero and many of the modern star sign names were compiled in his writings for the first time. The coins of Soloi-Pompeiopolis showing his image are very rare, and our specimen, despite being worn, is clearly superior to the Paris coin.
