eAuction #12, Lot 79. Estimate: CHF 50.00
Constantius II. (324-361 AD). AE3 (17-19 mm, 3.37 g), Treveri (Trier), c. 327-8 AD. Obv. FL IVL CONSTANTIVS IVN NOB C, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, fur over left shoulder. Rev. PROVIDENTIAE CAESS, campgate with two turrets, star above. Ex. STRE. RIC VII, p. 212, 506.
About extremely fine.
The exact meaning of the fur over the left shoulder is unclear. It only occurs on late Roman coins from the Trier mint.
