Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Mars, hel­meted and wearing armor, standing left, resting his right hand on his shield and holding long spear with his left.

Thick, compact flan. Good very fine.

Under Domitian, Philippopolis issued a series of bilingual bronzes, an unusual and interesting phenomenon likely connected to Domitian’s Dacian wars in 85-89 AD.
