Kings of Macedon. Philip II (359-336 BC). AV Stater (17 mm, 8.55 g), Pella, circa 323-315 BC. Obv. Head of Apollo to right, wearing laurel wreath. Rev. ΦIΛIΠΠOY, charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga right; below, thunderbolt. Cf. Le Rider 60 ff. (unlisted dies). SNG ANS 130f.
A coin of magnificent early hellenistic style, very well struck in exceptionally high relief. Nearly FDC.
