Eastern Celts, Dacia. Early imitations of Philip II Tetradrachms. AR
Tetradrachm (24-25 mm, 14.05 g), 3rd century BC. Baumreiter type. Obv. Laureate
and bearded head of Zeus right; the laurel leaves at the back of the head are changed to hair. Rev. Crested rider left,
holding branch, on walking horse; to left and below, ornaments. Göbl, OTA 129/2; Lanz coll. 418.
Struck in high relief and with a pleasent old collection toning. About extremely fine.
