eAuction #57, Lot 63. Estimate: CHF 9'800.00
Vespasianus (69-79 AD) for Domitianus Caesar. Aureus (19-20 mm, 7.33 g), Rome, 77/78 AD. Obv. CAESAR AVG F DOMITIANVS, Laureate head right. Rev. Parthian captive kneeling right, presenting Roman signum. RIC 2II Vespasian 959; Calicó 819b; BMC Vespasian 231.
A most attractive coin. Good very fine.
The reverse of this aureus refers to a type of denarii of Augustus, commemorating the recovery of the
Parthian standards.
