Probus (276-282 AD). Silvered AE Antoninianus (22-24 mm, 4.28 g), Rome mint, 6th officina, 279. Obv. IMP PROBVS AVGm Radiate, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Probus to left, holding spear over his right shoulder and covering his left with a shield. Rev. ADVENTVS AVG, Probus on horseback to left, holding long scepter in his left hand and raising his right in salute; to left, bound captive seated left and looking back towards the emperor. C. 39; Pink VI/1, p. 45; RIC 157.
Sharply struck, with intact silvering, and an impressive portrait bust. Extremely fine.
