Ionia, Smyrna. AR Stephanephoric Tetradrachm (33-35 mm, 16.84 g), c. 150-143 BC. Obv. Head of Tyche right, wearing turreted
crown, hair in parallel plaits along brown line, gathered at back and
falling in loose tendrils on neck. Rev. ΣMYP / NAIΩN, in two lines, monogram of
magistrate Metrodoros below, all within oak wreath. SNG Cop. -; SNG von Aulock -; Weber 6117; Jameson 1514.
Wonderful iridiscent toning and struck on a broad flan. Insignificant traces of doubling on reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
