Antoninus Pius (138-161 AD). AE As (28 mm, 11.88 g), Roma (Rome), 152-153 AD. Obv. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XVI, bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind. Rev. ANNONA AVG COS III / S - C, Annona standing right, holding modius on cippus right and branch left; to right, basked of fruits. RIC III, p. 139, 910 var. (bust type).
Extremely rare and apparently unpublished. Brown patina. Good very fine. Excellent style.
A specimen from the same dies but clearly inferior condition appeared in the collection Hohenkubin: Lanz Granz, Auktion IV: römische Mittelbronzen, November 1974, 337.
