eAuction #14, Lot 75. Estimate: CHF 900.00
Galerius (293-305). Argenteus (20 mm, 3.28 g), Treveri (Trier), 295-7 AD. Obv. MAXIMIANVS NOB C, laureate head right. Rev. VICTORIA SARMAT, the tetrarchs sacrificing in front of camp. Ex. D RIC VI, p. 176, 105b (r4).
Extremely rare. Beautifully toned. Extremely fine.
Apparently the first Trier mint Galerius with VICTORIA SARMAT rather than the usual VIRTVS MILITVM to appear in an auction for a decade.
