Postumus (260-269 AD). Billon Antoninianus (20 mm, 3.55 g), 268 AD, Colonia Agrippina (Cologne) mint. Obv. IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG, Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. P M TR P VIIII COS IIII P P, Bow, club and Roman (round) quiver. Zschucke 169 var. (foursquare Scythian quiver); Elmer 561 var. (same); AGK -; Cunetio 2448 (2 ex.!, same reverse die as illustrated specimen).
Extremely rare. Darkly toned and very fine.
Usually the reverse depicts a Scythian (foursquare) quiver. This type with a Roman (round) quiver is one of the great rarities in the coinage of Postumus.
