eAuction #23, Lot 32. Estimate: CHF 100.00
Tarkondimotos (39-31 BC). AE19 (7.31 g), uncertain mint in eastern Cilicia. Obv. Diademed head right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ / TAPKONΔIMO/TOY / ΦIΛANTΩNIOY, Zeus Nikephoros seated left. RPC 3871.
Nice very fine.
Tarkondimotos was an ally first of Pompey, then of Caesar and later of Marc Antony, to whom the title ΦIΛANTΩNIOY ("friend of Antonius" refers). He died in the battle of Actium, fighting Agrippa and Octavian.
