Rare. Undertype worn flat, countermark very fine.

From the BCD collection and ex Leu 90 (2004), 299.

This coin was countermarked at some time after the defeat of the Achaean League by the Romans in 146. At some point the League bronzes must have been demonetized and, in order to allow them to continue circulating, they needed to be countermarked. Quite a few of these pieces have been found at Olympia. While Franke, p. 22, suggests this countermarking took place immediately after the defeat, the extremely worn condition of many of the coins countermarked implies that they had circulated far longer.
