Very rare. Iridescent toning and uncirculated.
In 1840, Russia, Austria, Great Britain and Prussia formed the so-called Quadrupel-Alliance to force the Egypian Viceroy Muhammad Ali Pascha to return Syria, Crete, parts of Saudi-Arabia and the Turkish Fleet to the Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid I. After a military intervention by the Alliance in Beirut in 1841 and in exchange for the recongition of his family's rule over Egypt, Muhammad Ali agreed to the terms and handed Syria and the other territories over to the Sultan, an event commemorated by this medal.
