Maximianus Herculius, first reign (286-305 AD). AE Medallion (40 mm, 21.09 g), Roma (Rome), late 280ies - early 290ies. Obv. IMP C M AVR VAL MAXIMIANVS P F AVG, laureate bust to left, wearing imperial robe, holding Victory on a globe in his right hand and eagle-tipped scepter in his left. Rev. MONETAE AVGG, The three Monetae standing facing, heads to left, each holding scales in her right hand and a cornucopiae in her left; at each of their feet below scales to left, pile of coins. Extremely rare. Heavily corroded and reworked into a gaming piece in antiquity. Fair to fine.
