eAuction #51 - Literature sale III, Lot 36. Estimate: CHF 20.00
Kroll,
John H. “Two hoards of first-century B.C. Athenian bronze coins,” Αρχ.Δελτ. 27 (1972) 86-120, plates 33-40. Protective
printed card covers as issued, worn. Dedication. Interior Very Good.
Daehn 4049.
A note from BCD: A very rare offprint of an article by a very talented
numismatist whose book on the Athenian Agora excavation coins is a classic. However,
from a collector’s point of view, the exciting sections in here are where the
great rarities are commented upon and illustrated: the Athenian cleruchy issues
for the islands of Lemnos, Imbros and Skyros, coins that one never sees in the
trade.
