eAuction #51 - Literature sale III, Lot 39. Estimate: CHF 25.00
Liampi,
Katerini, et al. (Eds.). Numismatic
History and Economy in Epirus during Antiquity. Proceedings of the 1st
Intl. Conf. Numismatic History and Economy in Epirus during Antiquity, Univ. of
Ioannina, October 3rd-7th 2007. Athens 2013. 4to,
illustrated card covers as issued; 663 pages, 115 plates. As New.
A note from BCD: Greek
and Roman Provincial coins of Epirus have not been very popular with collectors
mainly because the interesting or valuable ones amongst them are rarely
available in the market. This massive volume attempts, with some success, to
“open up” the subject by presenting articles dealing in one way or another with
Epirote coinages. Unfortunately the photography is very uneven, with some
plates appearing washed out and others too dark and unclear. Nevertheless it is
a useful reference tool as it describes and illustrates coins that cannot
easily be found anywhere else.
