eAuction #48, Lot 63. Estimate: CHF 3'500.00
Galba (68-69 AD). AE Sestertius (37.5 mm, 26.43 g), Roma (Rome), 68. Obv. IMP SER GALBA AVG TR P, laureate and draped bust to right. Rev. S - C, Victory standing facing, head turned to left, holding wreath in right and palm in left. RIC 250 (R).
A spectacular portrait and with magnificent brown patina reminiscent of 19th Century Collections. Struck on an unusually large flan and good very fine.
This is a very rare variety with Victory standing rather than alighting: no such coin is listed on acsearch.info.
