eAuction #51 - Literature sale III, Lot 232. Estimate: CHF 10.00
Numismatic Chronicle, The. The Royal Numismatic
Society. London. 7th ser. Vol. XVIII. Volume CXXXVIII, 1978. 8vo,
hardbound original red cloth, gilt spine letters. 217 + xxxvi pages, 36 plates.
Very Good.
A note from BCD: Yarkin’s
brief but excellent exposé of the Alopeconnesus bronzes is much more than just
a list of the known types and Levante’s mini corpus of the Roman Provincials of
Korakesion in Cilicia demonstrates with perfect clarity what the persistence of
a dedicated collector can achieve. Both articles are fine examples of what is
today needed in numismatics to replace the generic articles we are flooded with
and which do nothing more than “labour the obvious”.
