eAuction #51 - Literature sale III, Lot 236. Estimate: CHF 10.00
Numismatic Chronicle, The. The Royal Numismatic
Society. London. Volume 142, 1982. 8vo, hardbound original red cloth, gilt
spine letters. 229 + xxiii pages, 47 plates. Fine.
A note from BCD: Articles
of Roman and Byzantine interest predominate here and this is quite appropriate
as the volume is dedicated to Robert Carson whose complete bibliography,
compiled by Roger Bland, is also included. There are however two articles in
the form of a debate between Zervos and Price that are very thought provoking,
especially for those interested in the absolute chronology of the earliest
Alexander the Great coinages. Finally, Mørkholm’s excellent review of the
second edition of Sellwood’s “An
Introduction to the Coinage of Parthia” should be an integral part of
this useful book.
