eAuction #50, Lot 130. Estimate: CHF 150.00
Lucilla (161-169 AD). AE19 (4.63 g), Dalisandos, Lycaonia, 166. Obv. ΛΟΥΚΙΛΛΑ СƐΒΑСΤΗ, draped bust to left. Rev. ΔΑΛΙСΑΝΔƐWΝ ΚΟΙΝ ΛVΚΑ, Athena Standing facing, head left, holding spear in right hand and resting with left on shield. RPC online 10439 corr. (1 specimen) = SNG Righetti 1456 corr. (same dies, but misattributed as 'Faustina II'). Von Aulock, Lykaonien, -.
Extremely rare. Nice green patina. Very fine.
The exact location of Dalisadnos is unknown, but the reverse legends of its very rare 2nd Century coinage show that is was a member of the Lycaonian Koinon. The specimen published in SNG Righetti and in RPC online was in a poor condition and attributed to Faustina II in error; it is, as our coin shows, in fact an issue for Lucilla.
