Severus Alexander (223-235 AD). AE Sestertius (28 mm, 21.83 g), 231-235 AD, Rome. Obv. IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, Laureate head right, slight drapery over left shoulder. Rev. PROVIDENTIA AVG / S-C, Providentia, wearing long chiton and mantle, standing front, head turned left; left hand holding anchor, right holding corn-ear over modius. RIC IV, p. 121, 645; C. 509; BMC p. 196, 815. Magnificent turquoise patina. Extremely fine.
