eAuction #4, Lot 98. Estimate: CHF 250.00
Caracalla (198-217 AD). AR Antoninianus (22-23 mm, 4.92 g), Roma (Rome) 217 AD. Obv. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM, Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P XX COS IIII P P, Diana, with crescent on head and scarf flying behind her, in biga of bulls left. RIC IV, p. 254, 284a (S) var (no cuirass).
Scarce. Good portrait. About extremely fine.
An obviously unrecorded bust/revers type combination. RIC cites this bust type (radiate, draped and cuirassed) only for the earlier issue with TR P XVIII of AD 215.
