C. Servilius Vatia. AR Denarius (17-18 mm, 3.90 g), Rome, 127 BC. Obv. Helmeted head of Roma to right, star on neckpiece of helmet; lituus to left, mark of value to right. Rev. Horseman (M. Servilius Pulex Geminus) galloping left, holding shield inscribed M (Marcus), piercing with spear another horseman, who fights back armed with shield and sword. Craw. 264/1; Syd. 483.
Reverse struck somewhat off-centre. Old cabinet tone and extremely fine.
