C. Julius Caesar. AR Denarius (19 mm, 4.03 g), 49-48 BC, military mint moving with Caesar. Obv. CAESAR, Elephant walking to right, trampling dragon. Rev. Pontificial emblems: culullus, aspergillum, axe and apex. Craw. 443/1; Syd. 1006; Sear Imperators 9.
Old cabinet tone. Perfectly centered on a broad flan. Good extremely fine.
From a Swiss Collection formed in the 1980s.
