eAuction #24, Lot 58. Estimate: CHF 250.00
Hadrianus (117-138 AD). AR Denarius (17 mm, 2.82 g), irregular mint, probably after 134 AD. Obv. HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, bare head right. Rev. SALVS AVG, Salus seated left, holding patera and sceptre. Cf. RIC II, 270 for prototype (with altar).
Minor obverse die corrosion, otherwise, superb extremely fine and nearly as struck.
An interesting ancient imitation of excellent style, strike and metal.
