eAuction #25, Lot 77. Estimate: CHF 100.00
Marcus Aurelius, as Caesar (138-161 AD). AR Denarius (17 mm, 3.13 g), Roma (Rome), 144-148 AD. Obv. AVRELIVS CAESAR AVG PII F, bare head right. Rev. COS DES II, Honos standing left, holding branch and cornucopiae. RIC III, 426 (Pius).
Scarce. Very fine.
An unusual reverse legend, unique to Marcus Aurelius and only used on Aurei and this Denarius.
