Aghlabids. AV Dinar (23 mm, 3.42 g), European Imitation.
Very rare. Good very fine.
An interesting imitative Dinar of particularly crude style. A number of European imitative Dinars are known, but they mostly copy Abbasid types and are of good style. Our coin, which might be of Avaric origin, resembles an Aghlabid Dinar, but the style is so wild that the exact prototype remains unknown.
