Gordianus III (238-244 AD). AE Sestertius (29 mm, 17.18 g), Roma (Rome). Obv. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind. Rev. AETERNITAS AVGVSTI / SC, emperor on horseback right, holding globe. RIC IV, 3, 314 (R3), Cohen 36 (60 Fr. !).
Very rare, Roger Bland only knew five specimens. Fine.
The reverse may show a now lost statue of the emperor.
