Manuel I Comnenus (1143-1180 AD). EL Aspron Trachy (28-30 mm, 1.72 g), Thessalonica, 1160-1167 (?). Obv. The Virgin nimbate seated on throne, wearing tunic and maphorium and holding medallion of the Infant Christ; in field, MHR ligate – ΘV. Rev. MANHL DECPOTE – O DHMHTRIOS, emperor on left wearing crown, divitision and chlamys and holding anexikakia and St. Demetrius on right, nimbate, and wearing short military tunic, both hold labarum between them. Sear 1974.
Large flan cracks and light flan. Very fine.
