eAuction #45, Lot 105. Estimate: CHF 250.00
Hadrianus (117-138 AD). AR Denarius (18 mm, 3.21 g), uncertain eastern mint, after 128. Obv. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P, laureate head to right. Rev. P M T R P COS III / VOT - PVB across field, Pietas standing right, raising both hands. Cf. BMC 88 and RIC 47 (Rome mint, different obverse legend).
Extremely rare and possibly unpublished. Very fine.
The reverse is copied from an early issue of 118 AD, but the obverse legend points towards a much later date.
