Hadrian (117-138 AD). Æ As (25-26 mm, 9.77 g). Rome, 134-138 AD. Obv. HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, Laureate head left. Rev. ADVENTVI AVG MAVRETANIAE, Hadrian standing right, raising hand and holding roll, before lighted and garlanded altar over which Mauretania, standing left, wearing elephant's skin headdress, holding vexillum, holds patera; sacrificial calf left at feet. RIC -- (this bust type missing).
An apparently unpublished bust type for an already rare type. Very fine.
