  Antoninus Pius (138-161 AD). AE Medallion (42 mm, 38.86 g), Ionian League. C. 139-144. Obv. ΑV ΚΑΙ ΤΙ ΑΙ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟС ΑΝΤΩΝƐΙΝΟС ƐV, laureate and draped bust to left. Rev. ΚΟΙΝΟΝ ΓΙ ΠΟΛƐΩΝ(?) ΠΡΟΝΟΗ Μ ΚΛ ΦΡΟΝΤΩΝΟС ΑСΙΑΡΧΟV ΚΑΙ ΑΡΧΙƐΡƐΩС ΓΙ ΠΟΛƐΩΝ, Auge standing, facing, head to right; on her shoulder, hand of nude Heracles who is sitting to left on rock covered with lion-skin; to left, club leaning against rock. RPC online temp. 955 (4 specimens).
  Very rare and with a mythologically interesting reverse. Traces of original gilding. Large chip on edge and remains of an applied post on the obverse, otherwise, fine.
